Californian wins record Powerball lottery jackpot 2,04 Billion dollar

California sold the $2.04 billion Powerball ticket ever sold. It was purchased in the state by a player who matched all the numbers and won the jackpot.

The top prize has an estimated cash value of $997.6 million.

A ticket sold in Florida won the Power Play Match with a cash value of $2 million. In addition, 22 other tickets sold across the country won the Powerball Match, with a $1 million prize still tied.

Drawing delayed

Because a lottery needed additional time to complete security protocols, Monday night’s record drawing of the Powerball jackpot was delayed for several hours.

The Vermont Lottery announced the drawing for the $2 billion jackpot Tuesday morning at 8:57 a.m. EST. Monday’s jackpot winner was expected to walk away with $1.9 billion, but final calculations revealed that as much as $2 billion would have been collected by the time of the drawing.
