A few weeks ago a woman from North Carolina asked her husband to buy a lottery ticket. She had been dreaming of winning the lottery for decades. The husband was a little less enthusiastic though. He actually rolled his eyes when she asked him the favor. He still went to the store, which appeared to be a life changing decision!
Quick pick ticket
Darrin Nunnery and his wife are living in Linden, North Carolina. It’s a small place about 22 miles northeast of Fort Bragg. Darrin was a bit annoyed when his wife told him to get a ‘Lucky For Life’ ticket. Little did he know that the name of the ticket would come true! A bit cranky, he went to the Exprezit store on North Ramsey Street and bought a quick pick ticket.
A couple that is now lucky for life
The N.C Education Lottery released a news message about the big win. Nunnery told about the conversations that went before and after the wife during a visit to the state lottery headquarters in Raleigh. His wife, daughter and grandson were also present. Darrin told that his wife discovered the win first. When her husband woke up she asked if he felt lucky. He wanted to know why she asked that question. The answer surprised him in a good way. She told that they had five numbers in ‘Lucky For Life’, which meant 25000 dollars a year. The odds are 1:1.8 million so the couple was really lucky!
Brain aneurysm
Nunnery calls the lottery win a ‘blessing’. It does not compare with another important event in his life, namely that he has survived a brain aneurysm. Before this happened he had been work as a maintenance contractor at Fort Bragg for years. The aneurysm has left him disabled, but he is lucky to be around.
Lump sum payment
Winners of the Lucky For Life prize can choose between two payment options, namely an annual payment for the rest of their life or a lump sum. The couple has chosen the second option and will receive 390.000 dollars. After paying gambling tax Nunnery and his wife will have 274.954 dollars.
A lot of plans
The lucky winners are planning to see their children and grandchildren more than ever. Besides that, they also want to pay some bill and give their home a nice make-over. Nunnery also said that he likes to donate some money to his church and people he loves.
