In one of the biggest wins of 2025, a California woman has claimed the massive $820 million Mega Millions jackpot drawn on June 30. The ticket was purchased in Los Angeles County and matched all five white balls and the golden Mega Ball.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, told lottery officials that she almost missed the draw. “I usually buy my tickets days ahead, but this time I stopped on the way home from work. It was a last-minute decision,” she said.
Largest California Win Since 2022
This win marks the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in California, and the third-largest in the game’s history. The lump sum cash option totals approximately $390 million before taxes.
The store that sold the winning ticket will also receive a bonus of $1 million.
